Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic, shining star that has the experience, skills and the qualities to take our billing department to the next level.

For this position, the Biller must have extensive experience in medical billing- Home Health Billing (part A) is a plus.

This candidate must feel very comfortable with computers and technology and experienced in EHR software. This biller will work directly with Medicare and other insurance providers, and facilitate a seamless process of billing claims, timely and accurately.

The main focus of this position is to ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulations, maintain accurate and up-to-date billing, prepare claims, adjust payments, reconcile, appeal, running and deciphering reports to update upper management, and other administrative and financial tasks.

The full-time Home Health Medical Biller must be able to -

  • Submit clean claims to various insurance companies.
  • Have the ability to research, correct, and re-submit rejected and denied claims and understand the appeals process.
  • Have a working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations and stay current on changes in requirements for all billing payors.
  • Be the billing “expert” for the agency and have their finger on the pulse of the billing dept, being able to answer billing related questions and be responsible for the day to day billing processes, manage the AR and report updates and findings to upper management.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, local and intermediary specific billing requirements to ensure appropriate authorizations are completed and/or notifies appropriate person of missing or incomplete billing requirements and follows up in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in the technology necessary to complete the job effectively. This includes the billing EMR, basic knowledge of Excel, Word, faxing and scanning technology.
  • Responsible for managing the insurance authorization and credentialing specialist as well as other billing staff.
  • Utilize systems and procedures to organize the billing office for maximum efficiencies.
  • Assure that computer system procedures including, but not limited to, end of day reconciliations and report printing are completed as well as other reports to track issues.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work on a daily basis.
  • Recommends, implements, and directs the agency’s billing policies and procedures.
  • Prepares regularly scheduled reports related to accounts receivable and other relevant issues.
  • Prepares month-end and closing reports.
  • Establishes, monitors and evaluates productivity standards by conducting audits for completion of all appropriate billing documentation on a regular basis.

Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; a college degree or Medical Billing Certification a plus.
  • Some accounting knowledge to understand and balance the AR
  • Four years prior work experience in a medical billing and/or accounting position, Home Health or Hospice billing preferred.
  • Experience in collections, accounts receivable, data processing and total business office procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical billing and reimbursement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the accounts receivable monitoring process (aging of accounts 0-30, 30-60, 60-90 days).
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals, employees, referral sources, vendors and other designated individuals.
