Program Director: Inpatient Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit

Job Type: Full-Time

FLSA STATUS: Exempt 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Transitions is responsible and accountable for the overall management

of the department.

REPORTS TO: CEO on daily operations and financials; and to the CNO for all clinical services.

PREREQUISITES: Experienced geriatric psychiatry RN. Administrator license preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral/Healthcare Sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred but not required: Master’s degree preferred. Experienced geriatric psychiatry RN. Current certification in BLS. CPR (American Heart Association). Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and hospital personnel. Minimum 1 year experience in specialty area. Management/supervisory experience required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be available to all employees on all shifts. Requires utilization of electronic video units, personal computer and other electronic equipment such as printers and calculators to perform work tasks. Must maintain competency by completion of orientation within 90 days of employment and annual hospital competency. Must arrange work hours to maximize visibility and effective functioning in position. Potential exists for exposure to communicable diseases, infections, body fluids and hazardous materials as well as radiation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift support and transport patients. Able to lift and carry over

5 lbs. Requires full range of motion. Requires standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time. Requires manual and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Requires corrected vision/hearing to normal range.

OSHA CLASSIFICATIONS: Tasks involving exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Use of appropriate

protective measures are required for every employee involved in tasks.
